Major running events
Stockholm Marathon
Held in late May/early June. This is Stockholm’s official Marathon event, with a full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers. The track takes runners through all seven of Stockholm’s districts, and starts and finishes at the historic 1912 Olympic Stadium.
Midnattsloppet (Midnight Run)
This is Stockholm’s biggest “fun run” – it’s known for its festive, block party-like atmosphere. The race starts in the evening between 21-22:00, and has two options for length: 5 km and 10 km. Is held around mid-August and takes place takes place in the Södermalm district.
Tjejmilen
A women-only 10 km race, that runs around Djurgården district. Celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024.
Run for Pride
An inclusive race focusing on fun and community. Held in connection with the yearly Pride Festival. The race has two options for length: 5 km and 10 km, and runs around Djurgården district. Held early May.
Stockholm Half Marathon
Held in late August/early September with a distance of 21.1 km (13.1 miles). Runs through central Stockholm’s districts and passes iconic landmarks like Royal Palace, City Hall, and Parliament. Start and finish near the Royal Palace. The course is relatively flat and easy – making it ideal for first-time half marathoners.

Tjurruset (Bull Run)
A cross-country race where getting muddy is part of the experience. Offers two options for length: 5 km and 10 km, and is usually held in beginning of October. Note that “Bull Run” is the English literal translation of the Swedish name “Tjurruset”, this event is not affiliated with the company Red Bull.
