Urban and chic hotel with a Scandinavian industrial vibe.
How was your first impression?
A few minutes walk from the St Eriksplan metro station to the part of Vasastan that connects with the new district Norra Hagastaden. The lobby is a stylish open space with concrete walls and large pieces of contemporary art covering the walls.
Tell us about the scene and the crowd. What’s the vibe like?
It’s a mix of groups of young travellers, families and couples.
Let’s cut to the chase: how’s the room? Cozy, chic, or just meh?
The rooms are located in two buildings: the main building and an annex connected by an indoor passage. Alternatively, you can exit the main building and enter the next annex, which is right next door. We stayed in a Studio 1.5 room in the annex building and it felt more spacious than the usual rooms in Stockholm. Multiple windows let in plenty of natural light, and the combination of privacy curtains that allow light while maintaining privacy, along with blackout curtains for darkness, was excellent for sleeping.
We stayed during a weekend, typically a busier time in Stockholm due to nightlife, yet the room was quiet through the night. The sleeping area is separated from the lounge area, which is a nice touch for a studio. It gives the impression of a larger space by allowing you to move between distinct areas. There is a portable speaker from Marshall where you can connect your phone, tablet or computer for playing music, as well as two TVs – one in front of the bed and one in the lounge area.
Be honest: is the bathroom more “spa goals” or “avoid eye contact with the mirror”?
A large shaded window that lets in light while maintaining privacy. Heated floors and an anti-fog mirror – where the anti-fog area covers literally the whole mirror – were a nice touch. The walk-in shower, with no bathtub, was of average size. While the bathroom door can be closed for privacy, it does not have a lock.
Room service: indulgent treat or instant regret?
We didn’t try the room service during our stay – something to look forward to next time.
Let’s talk perks: minibar treasures, toiletries you want to hoard – any keepers?
The room included the usual amenities, along with a kettle for tea and a Nespresso machine for coffee. The room also included a small kitchen area, equipped with a stove and a basic selection of essential utensils, perfect if you feel like cooking during your stay. The bathroom amenities included soap, shampoo and lotion from the Swedish brand Byredo, with the scent Bal d’Afrique. All bathroom amenities came in large bottles, accompanied by a note kindly requesting guests not to take them home.
Did breakfast hit the spot?
You don’t need to reserve a specific time for breakfast; simply head to the lobby and take the staircase down to the lower floors where the kitchen and breakfast areas are located. The selection includes a pretty standard hotel breakfast with hot and cold dishes, juices, yogurts, and cereals. What stands out, however, are the Asian breakfast options, including ramen and other Asian dishes. We didn’t try these options as we were too busy enjoying the Western breakfast, but we noticed other guests opting for the Asian selections. While the breakfast area did get busy, it is spacious enough that it never felt overcrowded. There is also an outdoor seating area in the inner courtyard. We didn’t try it during our autumn stay, but it looked like a lovely option for summer.
What’s the bonus round here? Think gyms, pools, spa magic, or even parking perks – anything worth a shout-out?
A nice touch to the breakfast arrangement is the double-sided card provided for your table. One side of the card indicates that the table is occupied, while the other side signals that you are done with your breakfast. Simply flip the card when you’re finished, and the staff can easily distinguish between tables occupied by guests getting more food and those ready to be cleared.
The lobby and communal space was a good place to land and relax. They have several small details that stand out with a playful tone, such as the pamphlet in the room with guidance on how to act like a local.
The verdict: should we book it? And why—or why not?
It’s affordable and well-suited for families or business stays. The location is in the north part of Vasastan, a pleasant area to stay in. It’s quieter and slightly removed from the bustling city center. The hotel offers a comfortable stay, with many bars and restaurants around the St Eriksplan area, just a short walk away.
