Visiting a day spa is one of the simple pleasures of spending time in Stockholm and works in every season. A few hours in warm water and a quiet relaxation room can ease jet lag and help you recharge after days spent exploring the city’s museums, restaurants, and sights.
Stockholm has a wide range of day spas, and many of them offer both indoor and outdoor areas. Locals go year-round: in summer for a slow afternoon in the sun, and in winter for the contrast between hot and cold. Heated outdoor pools stay open all through the year, and when you combine them with a sauna, even a quick cold plunge or short winter swim can feel surprisingly enjoyable.
When to go
Spas are at their busiest on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowds, visit Monday to Thursday, when the spas are usually less crowded and quieter. Friday evenings and Saturdays are usually the most crowded days, all year round.
November-March (winter and early spring) are the peak months for indoor spas. With colder temperatures and less daylight, many locals seek out warmth, light, and a bit of wellness. December, especially around Christmas, is particularly busy as people book spa visits and treatments for end-of-year relaxation.
July and August are the peak season for spas with outdoor facilities such as pools, lakeside saunas, and lounge areas. Many locals travel to their summer houses or leave the city for holiday, but visitors from abroad and from other parts of Sweden keep demand for spa visits high during this period.
What to bring
You only need to bring your own swimwear; everything else is included in the entrance fee. Most spas provide a bathrobe, towels, and slippers. Shower cream and shampoo are available in the showers, but you can of course bring your own if you prefer. Water is complimentary, and many spas also have cafés or bars where you can get drinks and snacks.
Central locations
The Nest
Japandi-style rooftop retreat with heated outdoor pool and cocktail bar

Every time we have visited the Nest spa, it has always been a comforting and relaxing experience. The interior design of the spa is a blend of Swedish and Japanese influences. It’s more or less how we’d picture the Japandi interior design style if we were to design a day spa ourselves. The ambience is usually relaxed, and although the outdoor pool can get crowded for short moments when everyone decides to soak at the same time, those moments are brief. Overall, it’s one of our favorite spas to relax for a few hours.
There is a bar here serving drinks, including cocktails and mocktails. You can bring your drink with you into the soaking pool.

Centralbadet
Historic Art Nouveau bathhouse with full-length swimming pool

Stepping into Centralbadet is like stepping back in time to Stockholm in the early 1900s. From the busy shopping street Drottninggatan, a secluded garden leads you to the bathhouse entrance. The air smells of mineral water and eucalyptus, and the sound of water echoes as it cascades into the Art Nouveau-tiled pools.
The full-length pool is one of the spa’s best features. We like to start in the saunas, then move on to the swimming pool for a few laps before resting on the poolside lounge chairs. Several spas have swimming pools, but this is one of best indoor pools, both because of its size and the art deco interior design and atmosphere of the pool room have been so well preserved.
Price range: 395-995 SEK ($42 – $105 / €36 – €91 / £32 – £80)

Grand Hôtel Spa & Fitness
Intimate luxury spa with five-star service and private suite options
Walk through arched entryways into what feels like a private Roman bathhouse tucked beneath the Grand Hôtel. The thermal pool sits framed by stacked stone walls and glass-enclosed fire features, their flames dancing against dark reflective tiles. It’s a deliberately intimate space: never crowded, always hushed.
The five-star service matches the hotel’s standard: attentive without being intrusive, often anticipating your needs. For a truly private experience, book one of their spa suites, where a gilded mosaic dome glows above your personal jacuzzi and arched windows overlook the waterfront. These suites can make a spa visit feel more like a private retreat, with lounge areas and plenty of time to linger.
This spa is one of the priciest options in Stockholm. There is no fixed time slot for your visit, unlike many day spas that limit you to a few hours. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like, and they recommend making your spa visit at least two hours. The premium price also reflects the Grand Hôtel location and the high service standard.
Price range: 2150 – 2550 SEK ($227 – $270 / €196 – €233 / £172 – £204)
Amenities: Dry sauna, steam sauna, warm pool, cold plunge pool.

Sturebadet
1885 bathhouse featuring glass-roofed swimming pool in Östermalm
The spa’s centerpiece is its glass-roofed swimming pool, surrounded by wooden lounging nooks with curtained alcoves lining each side. These used to be the dressing rooms when the bathhouse was first built and are now semi-private retreats with lounge chairs overlooking the water. The glass roof lets in natural light, and it’s a special feeling to float on your back in the pool and look up at the glass above you. The bath house opened in 1885 and is a beautiful reminder of late 19th-century Stockholm.
This is a large spa, with well sized dressing rooms and shower areas. There are mixed saunas in the communal spaces, as well as gender-separated saunas in the women’s and men’s shower areas.
You’ll find the spa inside the Sturegallerian shopping mall, in the Stureplan area of the Östermalm district.
Price range: 945 – 1595 SEK ($100 – $169 / €86 – €145 / £76 – £127)

Vana Spa
Spacious day spa with central swimming pool in Vasastan
Vana Spa is a fairly large day spa, with a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, dry sauna, steam sauna, aroma room and gym. You’ll find the spa inside Elite Palace Hotel in Vasastan.
The facilities are modern and have a relaxing ambience with an open floor plan. Warm wood slats line the walls, complemented by sage-green lounge chairs and a floating fireplace that anchors the relaxation area. Glass partitions separate the pool from lounging spaces while keeping sight lines open, and soft light strips along the ceiling cast a gentle glow over the pale stone floors. The mix of natural materials, honey-toned wood, woven rattan, and botanical-print cushions creates a calm atmosphere that feels contemporary but still warm.
The swimming pool in the middle of the relaxation area is perfect for cooling down between sauna sessions. This is one of our favorite places to spend a few hours and get away from the busy city.

Amenities: Heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, dry sauna, steam sauna, aroma room and a gym

Selma City Spa
Rooftop retreat with outdoor pool and Kungsholmen views
Selma City Spa is the rooftop spa of the Clarion Sign Hotel, located by Norra Bantorget square. The spa has an outdoor pool, a sauna, and a relaxation area with rocking chairs for deeper unwinding.
We like the location of the spa, with its beautiful views of Stockholm Central Station and the parks on Kungsholmen. In summer, sitting outside on the roof terrace and watching the trains pass by is a nice way to wind down while still feeling the pulse of the city.
The heated outdoor pool stays warm even during Stockholm’s chilly months, making it pleasant to soak while watching the city move below. The rooftop location gives you an unusual perspective on Stockholm’s transit hub, and watching trains glide past while you float in warm water can become an oddly meditative urban experience.
Price range: 395 – 595 SEK ($42 – $63 / €36 – €54 / £32 – £48)
Amenities: Outdoor pool, a sauna, and a relaxing area.

Elements Spa
Indoor-outdoor heated pool with street-view sauna in Södermalm
We especially like the pool, which starts indoors and continues outside, so you can choose to soak indoors or outdoors in the heated water. The spa is fairly small, but it’s a pleasant for a relaxing getaway in the city. There’s a bar where you can get order lighter meals and snacks, as well as drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
There are two dry saunas and a steam sauna. Most visitors use the first sauna, closest to the pool. For the best view, head to the second sauna just down the hall, which has a large window facing the busy Ringvägen street below.
You’ll find the spa inside Clarion Hotel Stockholm, in the Södermalm district.
The downside is that it can feel crowded during popular times, especially on weekends when it reaches full capacity.

Sparadiset
Private themed spa rooms for couples and small groups
Sparadiset is more of a private spa than a traditional day spa. They offer private spa rooms that you reserve for two people or a small group, usually up to 6-8 people. Each room is themed after a different destination, such as Fiji, where a cave-like pool is surrounded by bamboo and lush plants. Other rooms include Bahamas, with an infrared sauna, and Indonesia, which has a large jacuzzi.
Sparadiset has two locations: one in Södermalm and one in Kungsholmen. The Södermalm spa has two private rooms with jacuzzis: Indonesia and Fiji. The Kungsholmen location is more treatment-focused, with one private spa room, a floating pool, and an infrared sauna.
You have access to showers and changing rooms in connection to your private spa area, and dried fruit is served as a snack. Bring swimwear and anything you would like to drink. You are welcome to bring your own drinks, including alcoholic beverages.
Sparadiset also offers several treatments, from massage to facial treatments. Towels, shampoo, shower gel and skin lotion are provided.
