Some of Stockholm’s museums are completely free to visit, while others offer free admission on specific days. Here’s a complete list of museums with free entry, including those with select free admission days.
Museums and art exhibitions with free admission:
- Stockholm City Museum – Offers a rich collection documenting the city’s history and culture.
- Sweden’s National Sports Museum – Focuses on Sweden’s sporting history.
- The Living History Forum – Dedicated to the history of immigration and multiculturalism in Sweden.
- Accelerator – A contemporary art space.
- ArkDes – A Swedish national museum dedicated to architecture and design. (Free admission during 2025.)
- Ersta Museum – Offers a journey through healthcare history, featuring historical images, authentic artifacts, soundscapes, and information about future plans for Ersta’s new hospital.
- Torekällarberget – An open-air museum that immerses visitors in 19th-century Swedish rural life through its historic buildings, gardens, and traditional farm animals. Located south of Stockholm in Södertälje.

- Liljevalchs Free admission on Mondays 11 am – 5 pm.
- Modern Art Museum Free admission on Fridays 6-8 pm.

- The Royal Palace – On National Day, June 6, visitors can enter the Royal Palace for free, with special exhibitions and activities.
Reduced prices on selected days:
- Army Museum – 50% off on the admission on Tuesdays 5 pm – 7 pm.
- Swedish History Museum – Reduced entrance price on Wednesdays 5 pm – 20 pm.
- The Royal Armoury – All visitors get half off on museum admission between 17-20 on Thursdays.
