Most international flights land at Arlanda, about 40 km north of central Stockholm. You’ve got a few good ways to get into town. Here’s the quick version, followed by more details if you want them.
Good to know
- SL (Storstockholms Lokaltrafik) manages public transport in Stockholm County.
- An SL ticket works on the metro, commuter trains, buses, and many local boats.
- If you plan to buy an SL day or week pass anyway, the bus to Märsta + commuter train route is usually the cheapest way to and from the airport. (We only recommend this option if you travel light and want the cheapest way to get into the city.)

Per-person cost can be reasonable if you’re three or four people. Each company sets its own fares in Stockholm, so confirm a fixed price before you get in. You’re not obliged to take the first car in the queue.
Apps like Uber and Bolt show the price upfront and let you schedule pickups; follow airport signs to the ride-hail pickup areas. See the table for typical fare ranges.
