Budget-friendly accommodations

Stockholm has a variety of accommodation options to suit every budget. Here’s where to start:

  1. Hostels and budget hotels
Stockholm has several budget-friendly and comfortable hostels such as City Backpackers Hostel and Generator Stockholm. These hostels are both centrally located and are a good option for an affordable stay without sacrificing location. If you’d rather opt for a private room, budget hotels like Motel L and Hotel Micro are two viable alternatives that we recommend.
  2. Alternative accommodation
If you’re ok with staying a bit further away from the city center, consider staying in an Airbnb where you can rent a room or an entire apartment. In some situations this can be a more affordable option, specifically if you’re traveling with a group. If you’re looking for something different, another option is couchsurfing, where locals offer free accommodation to travelers. This not only saves money but also gives you a chance to connect with residents and experience the city from a local perspective.
  3. Neighboring areas
Accommodations outside the central city districts tend to be more affordable than in the city center. Neighboring areas like Solna, AlvikÅrsta, or Liljeholmen are still relatively close to the city, and are well-connected by public transport, allowing you to explore Stockholm easily while staying on budget. As a bonus you also get the opportunity to explore Stockholm from a less touristy perspective if you choose to explore the area of your stay outside of the central part of the city.
