Swedish Museum of Natural History and Cosmonova in Stockholm

The Swedish Museum of Natural History is one of the largest museums in Sweden. The museum is in a grand early 20th-century building next to Stockholm University. It’s a popular destination for families and offers two floors of permanent and temporary exhibitions.

The main attractions are the impressive dinosaur skeletons and fossils. The museum also features collections in zoology, botany, and earth sciences. Researchers here actively study fields such as paleobiology, mycology, and environmental science. The whole museum is very family friendly and the dinosaur exhibition is especially appreciated by kids of all ages.

The building also houses Cosmonova, Sweden’s largest dome theatre, where you can watch large-format nature films and space journeys. For a break, there’s a restaurant, picnic room, and cloakroom one floor below the exhibitions.

The museum is within walking distance of the Bergius Botanic Garden (Bergianska trädgården), making it easy to combine your visit with a stroll in beautiful surroundings.
