Nybrogatan
Nybrogatan is a central street in the middle of the Östermalm district and a popular destination for both food and shopping. Notable stops along this street include the interior design boutique Nordiska Galleriet, Swedish luxury rug manufacturer Kasthall, and Stockholms Auktionsverk, the world’s oldest auction house, founded in 1674.

This long street runs through much of Östermalm, but most shops are concentrated between the market hall, Östermalmshallen, and the intersection with the elegant boulevard Strandvägen. Just a short walk from this intersection, you’ll also find the renowned Swedish design store Svenskt Tenn.

Popular shopping streets

Drottninggatan
One of Stockholm’s longest pedestrian streets, Drottninggatan stretches between the Norrmalm and Vasastan districts. It offers a mix of shops, ranging from clothing to electronics, as well as numerous restaurants. The street is also home to the prominent Åhléns City department store, known for its wide variety of products, featuring everything from clothing to kitchen ware.

Drottninggatan passes through Sergel’s Square and T-Centralen, the bustling heart of Stockholm and its most central location. This area is particularly popular and can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and holidays.

Götgatan
Located in the trendy Södermalm district, this street is lined with boutiques and cafes, and is a great choice for shopping and socializing. A section of the street was remodeled to a walking and cycling area, having prior been a car road. The walking curbs are still there but you will notice that people are walking all across the road, i.e. utilizing all of the road, in the section between the streets Högbergsgatan and Slussbrogatan. This is a bit of a unique situation in Stockholm, especially since cyclists commonly are not allowed to bicycle where you walk but in this case both cycling and walking are allowed and mixed in the same area, so you see some cyclists zigzagging between the crowds.
