Kennys Gelato is a gelato ice cream chain that has grabbed a well-earned spot on our list of must-visit destinations for ice cream lovers in Stockholm.
Founded by Kenny Mattson, who won the Swedish Ice Cream Masters in 2022, this artisan gelato chain offers a delightful experience with its innovative flavors.
Each location starts the day with a fresh batch of 12 flavors selected for that day – which by the way always includes at least two sorbets, for anyone looking for vegan or dairy free options. In short there’s always something new to try.
One of their unique selling points are the creative flavors inspired by Swedish celebrities. For example, one of the crowd favorites: ”Markoolio’s Hazelnut with Crunch”. With so many excellent options for gelato and ice cream in Stockholm, this fun and distinctive approach makes Kennys Gelato stand out in a fun and quirky way.
And stand out they do. They have earned the prestigious title of Swedish Ice Cream Masters, in the Swedish Ice Cream Championship. They started with a single store in Tollare (a district in the southern suburbs of Stockholm) in 2019. Today the chain has expanded to several locations across the city. All locations serve gelato, and some also have a few additional offerings. Here’s a list of all the locations:
- Djurgården: Located right next to the Viking Museum and close to popular attractions such as the Vasa Museum, Liljevalchs, and Gröna Lund. While this location has no seating – as it’s an outdoor kiosk by Wasahamnen harbor – the harbor itself provides a great view, and a place to sit down by the docks to enjoy your gelato while watching the boats. - Sickla: Located in the heart of Sickla at Marcusplatsen, just outside the cultural center Dieselverkstaden and the cinema, this venue features a large outdoor seating area. - Glassfabriken: Glassfabriken, means the Ice Cream Factory, and it’s where all Kennys’ gelato ice cream is produced.
