Tössebageriet, or just Tösse as the locals call it, is a traditional Swedish bakery and café that has been open since 1920. The bakery has a charming, old-world atmosphere and it prides itself on using traditional recipes and high-quality ingredients, ensuring an authentic taste of Swedish baking. They serve a wide variety of Swedish pastries, such as kanelbullar (cinnamon buns), cardamom buns, and other traditional Swedish treats. They are also known for their semlor (a traditional Swedish cream-filled bun), especially during the Lenten season.
A fun fact about Tösse is that in 2015 they invented the “Semla wrap”, a playful take on the traditional Swedish Semla, which since then has become a thing throughout Stockholm. The tradition of eating the semla on a Tuesday in February, called Fettisdag (Fat Tuesday), comes from it being a celebratory feast just before the Christina fasting period. Instead of making the traditional bun, with almond paste, and cream, the bakers at Tösse reconstructed the same ingredients into a wrap. And nowadays you can get both the semla and the wrap at several bakeries in Stockholm.
